- A small bit of history behind the Sanctuary, it was a former Church of Ireland chapel of ease. Between Macreddin and Tinakilly there was about 50 stonemasons working. In the 1600s Fogarthy's Mill was constructed out of granite and later, local tradesmen in the 1700s using Tinakilly granite built lots of local houses and walls out of the local stone, also local churches and chapels including The Sanctuary. It was opened in 1869 and deconsecrated in 1991, when it was converted to a home. The Sanctuary was again renovated between 2020 and 2022 and is now a fully equipped three- bedroom home. The Sanctuary is spread across three floors, A building of immense character and charm.
